Lookin’ Back at Luckenbach
Postcards from Texas(A Painting A Week)
Lookin’ Back at Luckenbach
6″x 8″ original oil on canvas panel
Larry G. Lemons - 2008
Most Texans and Texans-at-heart have heard of or visited Luckenbach. First brought to our attention by the late Hondo Crouch, and later immortalized by country singers Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, it has become a Texas icon. We’ve been there two or three times over the years. The first time or two took us a while to find it. Seems that the highway sign gets stolen quite often. I wanted to do more than just document that I had been there, so I added the “vignetting” technique to try to convey a sense of fond memory and nostalgia for the legendary place.
