The Texas Artist - A New Painting Every Week

About

larry.jpg The Texas Artist is Larry Lemons who has been an accomplished oil painter since 2000, after a 27 year career in fine portrait photography.  For seven years he painted and did all the traditional things artists are supposed to do: art galleries, outside art shows, art lessons. Over the last year Lemons has been offering  something truly unique that can only be made possible through the Internet.

On a weekly basis a new “Postcard from Texas” is posted as a blog entry and is sent out to a list of over 500 fans, friends, and loved ones.  Then each week bidding starts and the winner receives the painting of the week that usually features Southwest terrain or a Texas theme shipped to him/her.

Bio

Larry Lemons was born near Nashville, Tennessee, then quickly moved to the small town of Ringgold, Texas with his family when he was less than two weeks old. Like the bumper sticker says, he wasn’t from Texas, but he got here as fast as he could.

While in the womb, Larry ‘s mother and father frequently graced the Auditorium of the Grand Ole Oprywhich foreshadowed Larry’s affinity for down home country ways – which is evidenced in his art.

In the 4th grade Larry and his family moved to the town of Nocona where he grew up, married, and had children. For 27 years Larry built a career as a portrait photographer achieving Texas state and nationwide recognition as a award-winning Master Craftsman Photographer.

In those 27 years Larry served as:

  • President & director of the Nocona Chamber of Commerce,
  • President & board of the Dallas Professional Photographers Association
  • Board member of the Texas Professional Photographers Association,
  • Board member of the Tales’ ‘n’ Trails Historical Museum project.
  • Former member, past president, and Paul Harris Fellow of the Nocona Rotary Club.
